Furlati has spent the last year renovating and perfecting the quaint eatery, which is located three doors away from his flagship restaurant on East Victoria Street. Furlati opened Ca' Dario nearly 15 years ago, but his career in Santa Barbara began in 1988 in Montecito's Upper Village, where he was the head chef at Pane e Vino. He has been involved with a number of Montecito eateries, including owning Via Vai and co-owning Tre Lune with Montecito restaurateur Gene Montesano. He also is the former owner of Santa Barbara eateries Bucatini and Enoteca Primo
"Ca' Dario was always closest to my heart," he said about the Italian eatery which bears his name. "Our customers have been asking for pizza for years and years; now is the time," he said about the Pizzeria's opening. Ca' Dario Pizzeria will be a casual, non-pretentious place for affordable pizza and appetizers, Furlati explained during a tour of the restaurant earlier this week.
